I am a writer, journalist and editor with a background in business and science reporting in both English and Spanish. My most recent work has focused on stories about communities in conflict in an age of climate change, the frontiers of mind-body medicine and the mysterious or uncanny in science. I also write news and analysis pieces on a wide range of science subjects, from the microbiomes of mummies to heated battles over operating room attire. My work has been published in New York, Wired, Backchannel, Guernica, Al Jazeera, The Verge and Proto, among other publications. In addition, I have worked as an editor for Nautilus, an award-winning literary science magazine.

I also write regularly for a number of academic and research institutions, and produce sponsored content for biotech companies. For more details about non-journalism writing, please see my LinkedIn profile, here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristenfrench/

I earned an M.A. in science journalism from Columbia Journalism School in 2013, and was a fellow in creative nonfiction at CUNY's The Writer's Institute from 2008 to 2010. I have a degree in English from Williams College. Thanks for taking a look!
